I am a philosopher and writer based in Oxford. I am Tutorial Fellow in Philosophy at Regent’s Park College and a member of the Faculty of Philosophy in the University of Oxford.
My work focuses mainly on Post-Kantian philosophy and feminist philosophy. I am the author of Sartre on Sin (OUP, 2017), Sartre and Theology (Bloomsbury, 2017), and the internationally acclaimed biography Becoming Beauvoir: A Life (Bloomsbury, 2019), which was selected as one of the best books of 2019 by the Times Literary Supplement, The Guardian, and The Telegraph, and has been translated into a dozen languages. In 2021 I was awarded a British Academy Mid-Career Fellowship for my latest project, a philosophical commentary on Simone de Beauvoir’s The Second Sex (forthcoming with Oxford University Press).
These pages cover some of my writing, media, and events. More information about my research, teaching, and supervision can be found under Research and on my Faculty profile.
